Fees and FAQs
Insurance
I am considered an “out-of-network” provider on most insurance plans. Some plans that may have out-of-network benefits include Aetna, Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Cigna, Oxford, United Healthcare. If you utilize your out-of-network benefits, I will provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance plan for partial reimbursement of my out-of-network fee. After payment of a deductible, out-of-network benefits may cover up to 80% of my fee.
Check with your insurance to determine the extent of your outpatient mental/behavioral health coverage. Some questions to ask your insurance plan include:
- Do I have mental/behavioral health benefits?
- What is my deductible and has it been met?
- How many sessions per calendar year does my plan cover?
- How much do you pay for an out-of-network clinician?
- Is there a limitation on how much you will pay per session?
- Is a primary care physician approval required?
You may also utilize a flexible medical spending account offered by your employer to cover out-of-pocket psychotherapy expenses with pre-tax dollars.

Common Questions:
How do I schedule an appointment?
If you’d like to schedule an appointment, or if you have any questions, please give me a call 203-260-0647, send me a message through my contact form or email me at [email protected] and we can set up a time to meet.
When are you available for sessions?
I am currently in the office daily with appointments available from 7am to 7pm. Sessions are approximately 45-55 minutes in length. I offer both in-office counseling sessions from my Branford office, and will often travel to off site locations such as school meetings or business.
Do you take insurance?
I do not take insurance. However, most of my services are usually covered as part of out-of-network benefits. If you would like to access your out-of-network benefits, I can provide you with a statement for reimbursement form for you to submit directly to your insurance company for partial reimbursement. I do accept HSA cards if you would like to use that as payment.
How does counseling work?
Initially I will listen to your concerns and together we will determine if working together would be a good fit. Based on the information you provide, I will make recommendations for the focus, frequency and length of counseling.
The strategies and approach used during our time together will be determined by your specific goals. Examples of goals in counseling may be:
Decrease feelings of anxiety and unwanted thoughts or behaviors.
Increase self-acceptance and self-confidence
Create and establish healthy boundaries in relationships
Increase ability to communicate in a healthy way
Explore and heal underlying issues
Counseling continues until you believe you have met your goals for the time being. No matter what brings you to counseling, most people walk away feeling more secure, free and supported as a result.
